After the (not entirely successful) adventure into building a mirror galvanometer system myself, I purchased a set of components from AliExpress to build a laser projector.
An RGB laser module with the necessary dichroic mirrors provided a great controllable source and an X-Y galvo system provided the pattern tracing I had previously tried to create myself before.
Packaging it all up into a little enclosure, grabbing my smoke machine and hooking it up to a bank of power supplies provided one of the most satisfying experiences of anything I’ve built to date. Well, this certainly felt like cheating as I didn’t really build anything. However, until my own system is working, this will do nicely.
