LED Coaster

My unhealthy obsession with LEDs seems to know no bounds. After Adam (my boss at Mindtribe) announced he was moving on, Timothy and I started to plot a leaving present for him.

Mindtribe had designed a coaster made of PCB material as a holiday gift in the past and I always had making an LED version of it at the back of my mind. After designing the tiny LED matrix just a week prior, this proved an excellent baseline for the project.

Two of those controllers provided individual access to 128 RGB LEDs and was paired with an MCU, accelerometer, ALS, LiPo battery and some other goodies. A full writeup of the design process which went from concept to production in a mere two weeks can be found on the Mindtribe website.
