For 2022 I wanted so play more with 3D printed diffusers for LEDs. A simple architecture based off the Disney Pins was used, running off a single AA battery, a boost, MCU and LEDs in a matrix configuration. A mode button was added to cycle through animations similar to the Snowflake Ornament.
The 3D printed diffuser worked reasonably well and I developed a process to capture the PCB in the 3D print by pausing the print, inserting the PCB, then capping off the print around the board. This enables no glue to be used and the front decorate panel is a press fit enabling easy assembly.
